Play Therapy - Practical Applications of Play Therapy II and Alternative Theories in Play Therapy

This class will provide participants with the opportunity to practice Play Therapy skills thus learned by conducting Play Therapy sessions with child volunteers.  The participants will be in small group settings and will observe each other conducting the sessions.  The participants and instructor will give feedback to each individual after each session. 

As the participants’ knowledge of Play Therapy grows, it is good to explore other theoretical approaches to Play Therapy.  This class will address an overview of other Play Therapy theoretical approaches.


  1. At the conclusion of this class participants will demonstrate through large group discussion a knowledge and understanding of:
  2. Recognizing one’s personal strengths and weaknesses in the Play Therapy process
  3. Be able to give appropriate feedback to peers after observing their Play Therapy sessions with the children.
  4. The value of being acquainted with various theoretical orientations in Play Therapy


Optional Assignment:  Begin working on your second video tape. Reaction paper is due Sept 21st and videos will be viewed Sept. 28th
