Services to At-risk Youths (STAR)

DePelchin Children’s Center offers free individual and family counseling in addition to parenting support through its STAR (Sevices-to-At-Risk-Youth) Program.

Famlies in crisis need immediate help.  Crises often involve a breakdown in family relationships and come in various forms: a child running away or problems at school. DePelchin helps families work through issues through its STAR program. Through its free counseling services, DePelchin helps families address a range of issues, including but not limited to:

  • behavioral problems
  • school problems
  • low self-esteem
  • harming self or others
  • family conflict
  • loss and grief
  • depression and anxiety

In addition to free counseling support, the STAR Program offers skills-based training groups for youth as well as caregivers, that focus on problem solving, goal setting and parenting skills. These classes are also of no cost and are held at DePelchin’s main campus on Memorial Drive.
