HOUSTON (August 3, 2015) – Every child deserves to start off the school year with the right supplies. This year, KHOU 11 is asking the community to help give students the tools they need to succeed by participating in the inaugural KHOU 11 Supplies for Success school supply drive.

The supplies collected through Supplies for Success will help upwards of 1,500 children enrolled in programs at DePelchin Children's Center. DePelchin, founded in 1892, is the leading center in Texas for children's well-being, with a focus on a mental health, foster care and adoption services.

"DePelchin is honored to be partnering with KHOU in the Supplies for Success donation drive this August," said Jenifer Jarriel, DePelchin president and CEO. "We are dedicated to serving our children not only by providing safe and loving homes, but also other support to help them be successful and thrive. Through this partnership with KHOU, their participating sponsors and the community, we can ensure that our children and families will have the necessary items to start school prepared to have a great year."

From August 3-16, donations will be accepted at the KHOU 11 studio, as well as at participating partner locations Texas Mattress Makers and Sun & Ski. Statoil is also a sponsor of this year's effort. Additionally, supplies can be purchased online via Amazon.com and sent directly to DePelchin, 100 Sandman St., Houston, TX 77007.
