HOUSTON, June 7, 2012 – On June 6, the Board of Directors of the Texas Medical Center approved the membership of DePelchin Children’s Center making it the 52nd member institution of the Texas Medical Center.
DePelchin Children’s Center provides care for more than 20,000 children and their families each year and offers a wide range of services including counseling, psychiatry, residential treatment, programs for at-risk youths, parent education, foster care and adoption.
“The addition of DePelchin Children’s Center to the Texas Medical Center is a wonderful addition to our collection of institutions,” said Richard E. Wainerdi, Texas Medical Center President and CEO. “As Houston’s largest and most comprehensive provider of children’s mental health, foster care and adoption services, it makes sense that DePelchin join the Texas Medical Center. DePelchin’s membership can lead to enhanced collaboration with our other member institutions and benefit children who are patients,” said Wainerdi.
“The Texas Medical Center is world-renowned for providing high quality health care, and as a leader in children’s mental health, DePelchin Children's Center is honored to become a part of this collaboration as the 52nd member institution,” said Jenifer Jarriel, DePelchin Children's Center President and CEO.
Member institutions of the Texas Medical Center are all non-profit institutions devoted to patient care, research, education and prevention and are required to participate in the various Texas Medical Center councils to ensure collaboration and communication amongst institutions.
