Play Therapy - Practice of Play Therapy Skills and Working with Parents in Play Therapy

After observing a Play Therapy demonstration participants will practice Play Therapy skills learned thus far.  This will be accomplished in a small group setting with participants role playing the child and Play Therapist.  The instructor will give feedback. 

 The homework assignment for Dibs: In Search of Self will be reviewed and discussed. 

 Since parents are the most vital people in a child’s life, time will be spent discussing the concept of working with parents through Play Therapy.

 Objectives:

At the conclusion of this class the participants will be able to demonstrate an understanding of:

  1. Current Play Therapy skills as observed by the instructor
  2. The importance of and techniques for working with parents in Play Therapy, as demonstrated by large group discussion
  3. A Play Therapy case study as demonstrated by large group discussion of Dibs: In Search of Self

Play Therapy tote bag is due today.

 

Assignment: Read Play Therapy by Terri Kottman.  Write a two-page reflection paper giving a brief description/summary of each chapter.  Include how this information may be used in your work setting. Email a copy to Cindy Hammonds at cindyhammonds@handinhandcounseling.com  Due: May 4th
