Play Therapy - Basic Skills, Reflection and Tracking

This class will focus on acquiring basic skills that are essential for effective Play Therapy. An opportunity to practice these basic Play Therapy skills will be provided in small groups. The importance of toy selection and developing a Play Therapy tote bag will be discussed. Observation of a Play Therapy demonstration will also be provided. Objectives: At the conclusion of this class the participants will be able to demonstrate by large group discussion an understanding of: 1. The rationale for selecting rather than collecting toys for Play Therapy 2. Preparing a Play Therapy tote bag 3. The rationale, reasons for, and techniques for limit setting in Play Therapy 4. The qualities that a Play Therapist needs in order to develop the unique relationship with the child that is essential in Play Therapy Assignment: Develop a Play Therapy tote bag to be used throughout the duration of this course. The tote bag is due April 8, 2016.
