Play Therapy Intake and Termination and Alternative Theories in Play Therapy

The importance of gathering significant information about the child through an intake session with the parents will be discussed.  Equally important, the process of terminating the Play Therapy relationship between the Play Therapist and child will be discussed.

Although Child Centered Play Therapy is the focus of this course, it is important to know that other theoretical orientations may be applied to Play Therapy.  An overview of various theoretical orientations will be discussed.

At the conclusion of this class participants will be able to demonstrate through large group discussion an understanding of:

  1. The importance of gathering as much background information as possible regarding the child to be involved in Play Therapy.
  2. Steps to be taken to appropriately terminate the Play Therapy relationship
  3. Other theoretical orientations as applied to Play Therapy

Professionals can purchase the full course at a discounted rate or purchase individual sessions at full price.  A discount is available for students for individual sessions.  Please email Esteban Mayers at to purchase individual sessions at the discounted $130 rate.
