Megan, Mooney's Bio
Dr. Megan Mooney is a Licensed Psychologist and the Staff Psychologist Supervisor for the Trauma Clinic at DePelchin Children’s Center, providing psychological testing in addition to individual and family therapy for children and families. Dr. Mooney’s training and primary theoretical orientations are psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral, however she utilizes various clinical approaches based on the needs of the child and family. Dr. Mooney specializes in a number of areas including trauma, psychological assessment and working with LGBTQ youth. In addition, she is trained in a number of therapy models including Attachment, Self-Regulation and Competency (ARC); Strengthening Families Coping Resources (SFCR); and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). With both her Master of Arts and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Arkansas, Dr. Mooney is also an Assistant Professor with the Menninger Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Baylor College of Medicine. She is an active member of multiple organizations including the American Psychological Association, the Texas Psychological Association and the Houston Psychological Association. Dr. Mooney was awarded the Texas Psychological Association’s award for Psychologist of the Year in 2015 due to her legislative advocacy on behalf of her profession.
