Residential Services
DePelchin operates two Residential Treatment Centers.
|
- Isabel Elkins Residential Treatment Center in Houston, Texas
- Richmond Residential Treatment Center in Richmond, Texas
|
Residential Treatment Centers are inpatient facilities where youth ages 5-17 temporarily reside. They provide:
|
- 44 beds in Houston and 22 beds in Richmond
- 24-hour, short-term, intensive treatment
- Therapeutic care for youth ages of 5 to 17 from staff trained in behavioral
interventions and management, therapeutic interventions, child development and first aid.
- A range of services including individual, group and family therapy, community
and family living skills, socialization and recreational therapeutic approaches
- Family services include family therapy
- Therapeutic programs structured to the individual's needs
- Ongoing outpatient therapy and services after the child is discharged from
the program. |
The program treats children and adolescents who suffer from conditions which include:
|
- Depression
- Bipolar Disorder
- Adjustment Disorders
- Abuse
- Schizophrenia
- Obsessive compulsive disorder
- Other behavioral problems
|
Sometimes these problems are so severe that outpatient or day treatment services cannot provide the stabilization and intensive treatment necessary for the child to function successfully in a home setting and admission to a residential treatment program is necessary.
A Day At The Center
Although each resident's daily schedule and treatment varies and is based on individual need, a typical day at DePelchin's Elkin's Residential Treatment Center is structured and may include:
|
- Academic studies through University of Texas Charter School
- Group therapy by a licensed psychotherapist
- Recreational activities
- Meals
- Individual therapy with psychiatrist
- Milieu groups
- Life skillbuilding lessons
- Physical activity such as basketball, volleyball and pool aerobics
|
Residential Treatment Center staff includes:
|
- A psychiatrist
- Licensed psychotherapists
- A licensed child care administrator
- A psychologist
- A nurse
- Youth workers
|
Treatment in the Residential Treatment Centers is short term in nature and is expected to be an average of 90-120 days. Once a child leaves the program, continued therapy and medication monitoring is necessary.
