We turn lives around

Foster Care

DePelchin believes every child deserves a safe, loving home.  Through our foster care program, we partner with couples and individuals who can provide temporary care for children removed from their birth families because of abuse, neglect or abandonment.

Many of these children have experienced trauma and desperately need the care and support of a loving foster family.

Children in Need of Foster Families

With thousands of children in foster care in Texas, the need for safe, loving homes has never been greater.  Children of all ages, ethnicities and backgrounds need foster families, specifically:

  • Infants
  • Children 2-17 years old
  • Sibling groups
  • Members of an ethnic minority group
  • Children facing physical, mental or emotional challenges because of past abuse or neglect

Becoming a Foster Parent with DePelchin

To foster a child, prospective parents should meet a number of minimum requirements.  The process of becoming a foster parent with DePelchin typically takes three to four months.  For an overview of the process, visit our Becoming a Foster Parent page.

Foster Parent Support

DePelchin understands that the commitment to foster a child comes with great rewards - and great challenges.  That’s why we’re here to support our foster families every step of the way.   In addition to monthly financial assistance for each child in the home, we offer a range of services to families, including specialized training, therapeutic counseling, in-home support and 24-hour crisis intervention.
