Solutions: The Sexually Abusive Youth in the Family System
This presentation will address some of the devastating issues inherent in a family with a young man or woman who is sexually abusive in a number of ways. More details in the announcement to follow. See information about the trainer here: Dawn Lawless is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a Licensed Sex Offender Treatment Provider and a Registered Play Therapy Supervisor; she has been utilizing her skills to assess and treat individuals and families affected by child abuse for over 15 years. In addition to forming Counseling Connections for Change, Inc., a nonprofit organization that serves the mental health needs in Brazoria County, Ms. Lawless has focused her clinical attention on developing the C.O.U.R.A.G.E. Program, which specifically addresses the growing concern of juvenile sexual offending. In an effort to educate other professionals on the dynamics and implications of sexual abuse, Ms. Lawless frequently travels to present this information at state conferences. Ms. Lawless is currently the Executive Director at Counseling Connections for Change. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from the University of Houston-Clear Lake, and her Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington. Ms. Lawless was named Social Worker of the Year in 2007 by the NASW’s Gulf Coast Branch, and in her free time, Ms. Lawless enjoys spending time with her husband of 17 years, and their two daughters.
