Play Therapy - Assessing Patterns in Play Therapy and Home Session Review
Often children in Play Therapy have repetitive behaviors that may give the Play Therapist insight to the child’s difficulties as seen through the child’s eyes. This class will focus on observing these repetitive behaviors and identifying emerging themes. Time will be provided for participants to observe a Play Therapy demonstration, as well as practice the skills that they have learned this far in a small group setting. This class will also begin the sharing of home video Play Therapy sessions for the purpose of critiquing one’s own skills and having feedback from peers and the instructor. Objectives: At the conclusion of this class participants will be able to: 1. Gain an understanding of patterns that develop for a child in Play Therapy as evidenced by large group discussion. 2. Demonstrate an understanding of Play Therapy skills achieved as observed by the instructor during small group practice sessions. 3. Gain knowledge and support through instructor and peer feedback of home video Play Therapy sessions
