Play Therapy: Practical Applications II and The Use of Sandtray
This class will be a continuation of participants experiencing Play Therapy sessions with child volunteers. The instructor and peers will provide feedback. Participants will be able to effectively critique each others Play Therapy Sessions giving each individual participant insight through the observations of peers and instructor.
Participants will be introduced to the use of Sandtray as an adjunct to Play Therapy. Historical background and basic tenets of Sandtray will be presented, followed by an opportunity to experience the creation of their own personal Sandtrays. Participants will be given an opportunity to share their Sandtray experiences with peers in small groups and/or large groups.
At the conclusion of this class the participants will be able to demonstrate by large group discussion an understanding of:
The importance of peer and instructor feedback of Play Therapy sessions as a tool for personal and professional growth
- Critiquing the work of peers in Play Therapy sessions and providing appropriate feedback
- The power of Sandtray as an adjunct to Play Therapy
- The experience of sharing one’s own personal stories through Sandtray.
