DePelchin believes every child deserves a forever family.  Through our CPS adoption program, we support couples and individuals throughout the State of Texas wanting to adopt children who are in the custody of Child Protective Services and need a permanent, loving home.  Through our private infant adoption program, we support couples and individuals wanting to adopt an infant.  In addition, we work with birth parents throughout the State of Texas considering placing their child with a loving, adoptive family.

Children in Need of Adoption

Children of all ages, ethnicities and backgrounds need loving adoptive families, specifically:

  • Sibling groups
  • Children 8 years and older
  • African American children
  • Children with medical needs
  • Children facing physical, mental or emotional challenges because of past abuse or neglect

Adopting through DePelchin

To adopt through either program, prospective parents should meet a number of minimum requirements.  The length of the process of adopting and welcoming a child into a family will vary based on circumstances unique to each child.  For an overview of the process, visit our Becoming an Adoptive Parent page.

Note:  DePelchin is only able to facilitate private infant adoptions (non-CPS) for adoptive parents currently residing in Greater Houston and its surrounding areas.  We currently do not facilitate private infant adoptions (non-CPS) for individuals or couples living abroad or outside the Greater Houston area, even for those who have "primary" or "permanent" residence in Houston.

Support after Adoption

DePelchin understands that the commitment to adopt a child comes with great rewards — and great challenges.  That’s why we’re here to support our adoptive families every step of the way.  We offer a wide range of post-adoption services aimed at strengthening and preserving families, including therapeutic counseling, in-home support, resources for children's activities, parent education resources and 24-hour crisis intervention.  We also offer adoption support groups in the Greater Houston area.

For families who adopt a child through our Child Protective Services adoption program, the State of Texas also offers ongoing financial assistance and other benefits for eligible children.
