Services to At-Risk Youth (STAR)                                                                                         Mire esta página en español.

DePelchin's STAR Program provides counseling and education services to support families in crisis. STAR services are available to families living in Harris, Fort Bend or Waller County.  

Services Offered

  • Family Counseling - Short-term counseling offered at our offices or in the client’s home or school
  • Skills-Based Training - Classes and groups for parents and youths over a range of topics, including parenting, anger management, social skills, truancy and delinquency
  • Child Abuse Prevention Services - Community presentations, fairs, and events related to preventing child abuse


Who Qaulifies?


A family must live in Harris, Fort Bend or Waller County and have a youth, age 17 or under, who meets one of the following criteria:

  • Runaway – has left home without consent or was asked to leave
  • Truant – repeatedly skips school or misses class
  • In Family Conflict – involved in significant conflict at home
  • Delinquent – involved in delinquent activity, such as fights, theft or drug/alcohol use.


To qualify for STAR services, youths cannot be on formal probation or have an open CPS case.


STAR services are of no cost. The program is funded by the Department of Texas Family Protective Services.
