M. Susie Donato is a licensed marriage and family therapist and a licensed professional counselor at DePelchin’s main campus. In practice for eight years, Ms. Donato specializes in parent-child conflict; trauma resolution; depression; blended, single parent and divorcing families; play therapy with younger children; and couples and family therapy. She compassionately and respectfully works to build on clients’ strengths using behavioral, cognitive, art and play therapy techniques to assist children and families in creating spaces within their lives to become focused, to make positive changes and to heal. “My goals are to build trust, develop empathy and create a safe environment for clients, as these are the building blocks of successful resolution of their challenges and issues.”
Ms. Donato holds Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts Family Therapy Degrees from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. She completed her internship training at University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, where she also practiced for a year. She is a member of the Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (American, Texas and Houston chapters). Her interests include gardening, growing African violets, collecting pottery, fiction reading, music and nature. Ms. Donato has been married for 19 years and is the parent of two adults daughters and two adult stepsons.
